Alternatives to iPad2 Alternatives to iPad2(0)

Apple’s iPad2 can be considered the market leader when it comes to Tablet PCs. However, the competition is not entirely dry and there are other similar products which can challenge the monopoly of iPad2 in near future. Some of the noteworthy rivals of iPad2 are as follows:

HP TouchPad: This product which will be launched on 1st July is expected to be a sound competitor due to its attractive features such as ability to tap an HP smartphone against it to transfer content. An improved version of WebOS and fine ability of multitasking are additional features.

RIM BlackBerry PlayBook: While this might not be the best product for common consumers, it certainly has a clear advantage when it comes to the corporate. The device works great in integration with blackberry smart phone and good thing is its 7-inch display which is less compared to other Tablet PCs.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: With all the amazing features, this is perhaps the most anticipated device released this year. Most distinguished among all Android Tablets, it has a 10.1 display which is slightly bigger than iPad2 and can be perfect for movies and gaming purposes.

Apple MacBook Air: Lightweight and thin footprint are noteworthy features of this product. An access to Apple’s app store is also integrated and multitouch feature also seems to be pretty attractive. This is particularly attractive for those who prefer hand-on functionality.

Sony S1: With a 9.4-inch screen and Android OS, Sony S1 is also a valid alternative for iPad2. Qriocity music and movie service are among the distinguished features of this product, which also has an access to PlayStation suite.

Sony S2: A unique introduction to Tablet market is Sony S2 which contains two 5.5-inch screens with an option to be used together or separately. Clamshell design of the device facilitates easy mobility.

Apple iPhone4: iPhone4 can used along with iPad2 but many people buy iPhone 4 as an alternative to iPad 2 since it has the same operating system, touchscreen functionality as well as applications. In certain cases such as making calls, it even has an edge over iPad2.

HP Pavilion Laptop: 13.3 inch screen and Windows 7 make this device pretty attractive and light weight alternative for iPad2. Both from the hardware and software perspectives, it has a clear edge over iPad2. Contrast its 320 GB of storage with iPad’s 16 GB while the price is same, that is, $499.99.

Toshiba Thrive: This device would come with a 10.10inch display with Android 3.1. With front and rear end cameras, this device offers almost all features of iPad2. Its price, however, is less compared to iPad2, being $479.99 for a 16 GB device.

Samsung Series 5 Chromebook: This is also a pretty lightweight device, although many people might not find it a valid alternative to iPad2. But the device is nonetheless very economical as well as mobile.

It’s your choice, feel free to choose!

“First Impression” Teaser shows off S2 and S1 “First Impression” Teaser shows off S2 and S1(0)

A teaser running 2 minutes had just been leaked showing both S2 and S1. There was not much enthusiasm in it, but what is important is the view of the two tablets and what is more surprising is to see the S2 with hinges.
A few weeks ago, the Sony S2 technical specification has been revealed somehow. The most significant thing quoted by then was that it is running Android Honeycomb 3.0 aside from its totally handy size of only 5.5 inch with a 1024 x 480 resolution that allows folks the clearest screen view. Other than that it was also said that Sony S2 will come packed with a Dual Core, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor for exquisite gaming sensation and will support HTML, XTML web browsing as well as WI-Fi functionality. In addition, it offers various exciting applications such as Calendar, Alarms, Calculator, along with Mp3 Player that filters by Album, Artist, and Playlist featuring Album art cover, Preset equalizer, and Background playback. What is not said is that the tablet will have hinges. In this case, the Sony S2 is like that of Kyocera Echo, as shown by the teaser, in terms with its dual-screen setup but was it a bit appalling about the tablet is that it divides the screen image up and down. For instance, in viewing a news page would cut it in the middle so that the top page appears on the upper part of the tablet while the lower page appears in the lower part. The hinges are a bit disturbing somehow but what is an advantage is that it can be folded and can easily be brought along.
The Sony S1 is way better than the latter. The Sony S1 technical specification then as revealed by the “First Impression” teaser boasts 9.4 inch screen which is also running Android Honeycomb 3.0.The best thing about it is that it is PlayStation certified that comes packed with NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with a WI-Fi and DLNA functionality. The size of the tablet alone allows one to take pleasure in viewing video comfortably undisturbed especially that it also features a 1280×800 pixels resolution.
For folks who like to buy Sony S1 or S2, the released date is expected on September. The opportunity for preorder has not been reported yet, which means Sony lovers have to remain patiently waiting for a bit. The good news is that folks still have a lot of time to save money for Sony S1 price which will be $599 and the Sony S2 price at$699.

Sony Tablet S1, S2: Something to Watch out For Sony Tablet S1, S2: Something to Watch out For(0)

Another Android Honeycomb fever has risen in the market this year. The last thing you’ll know, Sony has already made its way on the verge of releasing two new Android Honeycomb 3.0 operated Tablets-S1 and S2.
Sony CEO Howard Stringer has already confirmed that Sony will be releasing Android Tablet this year. The S1 is said to be available for pre-order in August and release on September while the two honeycomb-operated devices will be officially released at the end summer in US.
Both tablets are uniquely distinctive with one another. The S1 Tablet technical specification embraces a 9.4 inch screen with a sort of wedge shape. The slightly thicker design was inspired by the way people hold magazines. In this case, when magazine is folded, one side is thicker than the other so that it is easy for folks to hold. On the other hand, the S2 technical specification encloses a clamshell design featuring an endearing 5.5 inch display screen. Each section of the tablet has a rounded back, so that it looks a real clam when closed. Upon opening, the tablet can be used with a black stripe down the middle, with its screen displaying various contents like the dual-screen Nintendo DS consoles. What is more remarkable is that the two tablets are reported to be integrated with PlayStation functionality. So upon holding either one of the two Sony Tablets, the play station controls appear on the screen, making victory against game opponent possible in just a point of a finger.
Another more interesting verity about the two tablets is that, they both come with a Wi-Fi and 3G or 4G signal operating in Honeycomb. Aside from this, both are also packed with infrared lamps which enable control to Sony Bravia devices aside that they also offer music and video accessibility and entertainment to compatible devices via DLNA wireless protocol similar to Apple’s Airplay concept. Hence, never mind if this won’t be the cheapest Sony Tablet in the history.
Another thing, both tablets are pretty good especially for folks who have already invested in Sony gear. This is good news to Sony fan folks who plan to upgrade or buy S1 and S2. However, from a lengthy development period, Sony has not revealed the S1 and S2 price yet but the Sony CEO assured the lengthy time was to prepare an exquisite tablet design that would make Sony tablets stand out from the rest aside from the possibility that they might also get hold of 3D convenience.
