iPad iOS 4.3 – How To increase battery life? iPad iOS 4.3 – How To increase battery life?(0)

We have a hint from Stefan saying that many users are facing battery life decreasing since upgrading to iOS 4.3. It seems that Ping is draining battery life of iPads faster than before upgrading to iOS 4.3. It will probably be fixed on the next versions of operating software, but until then, a simple solution is to turn off Ping.

4 easy steps bellow:

1. Press the Settings Icon.

2. Choose General.

3. Go to Restrictions and enable them. You’ll be asked for a 4 digits passcode. Remember it or write it down because you will need it every time you go into Restrictions Menu.

4. Set Ping Off.

That’s it!

You will now restore your battery life to normal.

Thank you Stefan for the tip.

Apple iPad 2 – We’ve got it! Apple iPad 2 – We’ve got it!(4)

In today’s long expected conference, Steve Jobs presented the new iPad 2.

New characteristics feature a processor twice as fast as the initial one, two cameras and many new attributes for its OS.

At the beginning of the conference, Jobs presented some statistics related to sales of Apple products. His figures show:

- over 100 million iPhones (all generations) sold

- iTunes digital store has over 200 million users

- in 2010 alone the company paid over $ 2 billion to software application developers

- since its launch in April 2010, iBookstore store sold over 100 million electronic books

After a brief intro on the first version of the iPad, Jobs presented iPad 2.

Here are some specifications of the iPad 2:

  • A much faster processor than the first iPad version. Apple’s new processor called A5, dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor will provide twice the speed, and graphics up to nine times better. However
    the processor will maintain the same CPU consumption as A4, its predecessor;
  • 33% thinner – iPad 2 is 8.8 mm thick , this makes it thinner than an iPhone 4;
  • Two cameras – as expected, iPad 2 has a front camera – for video calls, and a back one designed for photos and videos;
  • Available in 2 colors – white and black;
  • Three options for internal memory –  16, 32 or 64 GB, each with or without 3G capabilities;
  • iOS 4.3 – a new OS for the iPhone and iPad. As expected, Apple improved their iOS 4.2 to iOS 4.3.  This will run Safari faster, will allow end-users to send and receive files via WiFi using iTunes. iOS 4.3 features new functions for iPhone 4 as well. It enables the smartphone to operate as a modem for another device. (PC, notebook or iPad)
  • Facetime allows iPad 2 to video conference a tablet even with an Apple PC or with an iPhone.

iPad 2 will hit the stores on March 11th in the US, and starting with the 25th of March it will be available on the European markets.

The good news is that the price will remain the same as for the first version of the iPad, starting from $ 499  (16GB version without 3G) up to $ 829 (64 GB version with 3G).

Apple has a press conference today 10.00 AM Pacific Time at the Yerba Buena Arts Center in San Francisco. Everyone expects this event to see the second generation iPad. No one know for sure details about iPad 2 but based on the rumors until now we could imagine a tablet with a front camera for video call and a rear camera for pictures and videos. It is expected Apple to keep the same size and resolution for display but for changes could appear at the software, where Apple could unveil iOS 4.3.  Complete updates as they happen.

iPad 2 Launching announced on 2nd of March iPad 2 Launching announced on 2nd of March(0)

Apple iPad is without any doubt the best sold tablet and one of the most successful products ever made by Apple. Once with the launches of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1,  Motorola Xoom, Blackberry Playbook and HTC Flyer, perspectives start to look worrying for Apple and they had to come up with something new to keep up to their reputation. Their first concern could be Android 3.0 Honeycomb (operating system created by Google especially for tablets) so there are speculations that iPad 2 will come up with iOS 4.3 .

There are also rumors referring to technical specifications of the iPad 2. iPad 2 could have a multi-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU (single-core ARM Cortex-A8 for iPad), dual-core SGX543 GPU (single-core SGX 535 for iPad), 2048 x 1536 display at 260 dpi (1024 x 768 at 132 dpi for iPad) – Retina Display, GSM and CDMA chipset (GSM only for his predecessor), front camera for conference call applications and rear camera for taking photos. It could have 120 GB almost double compared to the iPad launched almost one year ago.

The new generation iPad will weight less and will be thinner according to the rumors which can’t be confirmed for the moment.

We will know for sure only on  the 2nd of March at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts where the official launch is announced to be taking place.
