HP TouchPad on sale at low prices HP TouchPad on sale at low prices(0)

The troubles for HP TouchPad started ever since the introduction of this device in the market and HP could never really put the tablet on the success track. Even the reduction in the price of the tablet more than once could not result in significant progress. HP TouchPad was originally introduced in February 2011 and against all the expectations, could never really attract the audience on a wide scale. The size of this device was same as iPad but there was a critical change in the software since HP preferred to use Palm’s WebOS, opting out the option of Android. After the reduction of the price a couple of times, present price of HP TouchPad happens to be around $270-$300. But now that several new high end devices with even lower prices have been introduced during the recent CES, HP would have to further adjust the price factor. For example, Asus released its quad-core Asus Memo 370T Tablet PC at a price of just $249 during the last CES.

After the initial release and limited success of the tablet, a later version of the tablet was released under contract with AT&T. This tablet comes with the 4G technology while the remaining specs are more or less the same. But since the market was already saturated with several other high end and established Android and Windows based tablets, the success for this version was also very limited. Eventually, HP decided not to manufacture any more of these devices and at present, you can purchase TouchPad from the retail stores but the manufacture of the device by the company has been stopped. HP  TouchPad can still be quite expensive. For example, the price of 32 GB WiFi version of HP TouchPad having a screen size of 9.7 inches, capacitive LCD display, and other usual specifications is $499.99. Although from the standards of HP TouchPad, this might seem quite expensive, but this price is still quite affordable compared to several other high end devices available in the market. What’s more, you can purchase this device from Amazon for only $298. There are some other places that are selling HP  TouchPad at even lower price so if someone does not need the best specs and can live with a reasonably nice tablet with a very reasonable price; he or she can certainly opt for HP TouchPad which showcases quite decent technical specs as well.

HP Touchpad vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 HP Touchpad vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1(0)

HP has made an impressive entry in the market of tablet PC with its first tablet PC with the name of HP touchpad. In this review, we would make a short comparison of this device with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 which has already been an established and highly successful device in the tablets market. First of all, the body structure of two devices as well as weight varies to some extent. Galaxy Tab 10.1 has dimensions of 256.7 x 175.3 x 8.6mm and contains a weight of mere 565g. On the other hand, the dimensions for HP Touchpad are 240 x 190 x 13.7mm and it is slightly heavier as compared to the former and weighs some 740g. Even though Samsung device is a bit larger compared to the Touchpad, it still weighs less, which is certainly a positive point in its favor. Galaxy Tab 10.1 might have a little edge over HP Touchpad when it comes to screen resolution and display, with the display been extended to the edges of the screen. So from the perspective of appearance and form, Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a clear edge over HP Touchpad. But the design and form of the tablet is not of much concern for serious users and hardware specifications and software applications are what matter more.

Talking from the perspective of display, Galaxy 10.1 again seems to have an upper hand. Touchpad has a display of 9.7 TFT capacitive touchscreen and also facilitates multi touch input. The screen resolution of the Touchpad happens to be 768 x 1024 pixels which is almost to same as that of iPad. Galaxy Tab 10.1, on the other hand, contains a display of 10.1-inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen, that is, slightly larger than the former. Besides, its resolution is also a bit higher compared to the Touchpad, that is, 800 x 1280 pixels.

Now let’s take a look at the storage capabilities of the two devices. HP Touchpad comes with either 16GB or 32 GB internal storage capabilities and a 1GB RAM with both versions. But the problem that users would face is that it does not have any card slot for external storage, which is certainly a negative point. Galaxy Tab is also pretty much same in this regard and also does not have any card slot. But the only edge it has over its competitor is that it is also available in a 64GB version. So from the perspective of storage, Galaxy Tab once again has an upper hand.

The processors of HP Touchpad and Galaxy 10.1 seem to have almost same kind of specifications. Touchpad has a processor of 1.2 GHz running on the APQ8060 Snapdragon chipset. Galaxy Tab also has a dual core processor but has a slightly lower clock speed compared to touchpad. So basically, when considered from the perspective of efficient capacitors, both devices seem to be on equal par.

It’s difficult to compare both devices form the perspective of operating system since they run different operating systems. Touchpad runs Web OS 3.0 while Galaxy Tab runs Android 3.0 Honeycom. Both operating systems have pretty impressive multi tasking capabilities and beautiful interface. Other than being user friendly, they also give users control over the applications so both seem to be quite attractive for the users.

Finally, Galaxy Tab has an edge over touchpad when we consider their cameras. Galaxy tab has 3.15 MP camera with 2048×1536 pixels resolution while touchpad comes with only 1.3 MP camera with 1280 x 1024 resolution.

So overall, Galaxy Tab 10.1 clearly has an edge over HP touchpad which needs some more improvements to exert an impressive influence in the market.

Which has more Apps: HP TouchPad or Android? Which has more Apps: HP TouchPad or Android?(0)

So let us score the round-up. The HP TouchPad has 400 applications, Apple iPad hits market with 100,000 record breaking applications, while the five Google Android Honeycomb which were out since April only have 232.
So what about this? Well, it simply shows that HP TouchPad has more application than Android. Why is this so? The 232 round up for Android is actually publicized by David Pogue in New York Times, and the reason why it lives until today is because Google refuses to reveal the right number. Philip Berne of Samsung says there are actually 60,000 applications that can be seen on the Android tablets.
As Berne said, 30% to 40% of all Android applications scale almost perfectly and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 just had 60,000 applications which 4% of applications scale a little white and good layout. The problem then for folks who buy Samsung Galaxy 10.1 is the application discovery. Google’s Android just does not give easy time to offer which application works best on which tablet in contrast to HP, Apple, and RIM that clearly display the specific application for the right tablet. Furthermore, as compared, honeycomb features minimized snapshots of open applications in the multitasking bar while TouchPad features larger.
Hence, if this said so, the question would be how did TouchPad reached the tough score of 400 applications? Remember that TouchPad technical specification boasts 7.5 x 9.5 x 0.6 inches with thickness almost the same as the iPad 2 only that it is running Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 Dual-Core. No it is not Android or Apple, definitely. However, it is running WebOS. This is what actually separates TouchPad from the others and that according to HP president Richard Kerris makes HP application easy to spot and count. Hence, TouchPad having no rear-facing camera at all, with WebOS still stands stalwart with apps, browser windows, videos, photos, and more which can also be minimized to “card” size with a downward swipe or a tap on the Home button. Kerris even assured that the company will expand WebOS coverage to more devices while there is hundreds more application coming over. HP had been inviting companies for workshops and seminars recently to pursue the plan.
As of today, HP TouchPad price varies in different versions such that the 16GB is set at $499 and the 32GB is $599. HP also says that the tablet will be available at AT&T; however, the connectivity and timing is yet to be announced sooner.

Inventec and HP joined their efforts for a new 7-incher tablet Inventec and HP joined their efforts for a new 7-incher tablet(0)

Inventec is Taiwanese company which is reportedly partnering with Hewlett-Packard to release a new hit in the tablet market, a 7-incher tablet running in the company’s webOS operating system which will power the TouchPad along with the good outbreak of releasing its 9.7-inch TouchPad on July 17.

As a bit of history, Inventec started out as manufacturer of calculators and now into high-tech products such as notebooks, enterprise servers, wireless communications and solutions, consumer mobile and electronic devices and now it has been reported that HP had placed a large order for tablets from the company. In this case, HP is calling for 400,000 to 450,000 TouchPad tablets per month while predicted to order three million more tablets this year starting June.

The 7 inch tablet PC name has not been unveiled yet but the 9.2 inch TouchPad Technical Specification is said to be featuring 1024 x 768 native resolution buffed with a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a 1GB RAM and a wireless 802.11 and Bluetooth. In addition, the tablet will also comprise a 1.3 MP front-facing camera and a storage capacity of 16GB to 32GB weighing 1.6 pounds and measures 13.6 mm thick.

On the other hand, while wondering what webOS is all about, it is a patent mobile system running n the Linux kernel which is later then acquired by HP as it was first owned by Palm. Just recently, HP also announced to launch its webOS Pivot which will showcase a broad range of applications with focus on interests and lifestyle of customers aside that it is also designed to complement the HP webOS App Catalog.
With this not only folks would be excited to see the 9.7-inch TouchPad but also for the 7-inch version which is not unveiled yet.
The 7-inch tablet will soon to follow. The date is not sure yet, nevertheless, for folks who plan to buy TouchPad 9.7-inch version, the price varies in different versions. The TouchPad price for 16GB is $499.99 while the 32GB is available at 599. Be happier to know that it will be available for purchase on July 2 in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Germany and in Canada on July 15, with availability scheduled to follow later this year in Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore and Spain.

HP Tablet will have Facebook before iPad HP Tablet will have Facebook before iPad(0)

No two opinions exist on the fact that Facebook, along with Twitter, is the most widely used social networking website. So the fact is that any Tablet PC devoid of a standard Facebook application can face a serious blow from the competitors who launch this application.

We have been witnessing this situation between iPad and HP Tablet for some time now. However, recent news reveal that the possibility exists that a Facebook application for HP Tablet might be released before any such application for iPad would be revealed. iPad users have been demanding a Facebook application from Apple for quite some time now, and only recently it was announced that such an application was going through the testing process and most probably would be released in a couple of weeks. Now the latest development, as has been seen from the screenshots published by a famous tech blog, reveals that HP’s anticipated tablet which is about to be released in the next few weeks might contain the Facebook application running on tablet’s webOS. According to the revealed information, news feed for Facebook can either be viewed in a traditional streamlined manner or a tablet-friendly title version. Additionally, the facility to add Places and Photos to the left rail navigation is also evident from the screenshots. Complete features of the application, however, have not yet been released but from the looks, the application seems to be pretty attractive. If this really happens and HP tablet manages to release this application before iPad, this would certainly give a huge benefit to HP over Apple. However, no definitive opinion can be given as to whether the application would be released along with the release of the tablet or it would be released at some later time. However, according to Facebook officials, this app was not build by Facebook but by HP. This is similar to what RIM did with Blackberry, that is, to build a Facebook application using its platform. But either way, if HP manages to launch this application along with the tablet, it would be a pretty smart move. Although there are several Facebook applications for iPad, but it is still lacking one standard and user-friendly application. With HP advancing toward this front, it seems that it would be able to launch this cherished application before Apple and score victory on this front.

So, as we can see, HP TouchPad technical specifications are quite attractive. Applications related to social networking, health and fitness, productivity, finance, 3D games and many other categories are within easy reach with HP TouchPad. HP TouchPad price has been set to be $499.99 for a 16GB device and $599.99 for a 32 GB device, which seems to be quite reasonable considering all the amazing features that come with the device. Tablet PC: Tech Rivalry Tablet PC: Tech Rivalry(0)

Tablet, being an immediate alternative to netbook and desktop, has evolved faster than it was thought to be.

A lot of Tablet PCs are currently emerging, vying for the top title in the market and knocking every tech savvy’s Tablet PC bucket list. However, iPad 2 has remained the top seller in the market, the reason why every other Tablet PC is advancing its technical specifications to take its place in the market and to be the public’s first item on list.

Wondering how many Tablet PCs are born this year to join the tech rivalry on market? Well, there a lot. Take for example the fact that after the very first Samsung Galaxy, the people are ready to buy Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, or Galaxy Tab 8.9, Toshiba is also on the verge of unveiling its first ever Toshiba Thrive, and Motorola Mobility Inc. is betting its Motorola Xoom with a Verizon Wireless network. These Tablet PCs are just the top three tight competitor of the Apple iPad 2 among the few out there.

Not to mention the other Tablet PCs that are soon to be joining the Tech Rivalry, which one might not know about yet, let’s start with the HP Slate. Although this HP Tablet had no specs yet, HP Slate is the newest of the company and is said to run with Windows 7 setting it apart from Android Tablets.

Next is the Dell Streak, the 5 and 7 inch sized Tablets since its CES 2011 keynote. Dell Streak Tablet is said to be more parallel to the existing lines of mobile devices or MIDs. Another are the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and the Acer Iconia Tab with 3 versions in terms of OS (Windows or Android) or size (7 or 10 inch). The Asus’ latest 10 inch Tablet has four control buttons and will run the Google’s mobile operating system, Android. Be surprised of the next Compal Tablet with its 7 inch screen and run by Android 2.0 operating system, it also runs the latest Tegra 2 processor NVIDIA and allows 1080p video playback. Another Tablet to hit the market by storm is the Notion Ink Adam, a 10 inch Tablet PC running Tegra 2 from Indian Notion Startup Ink. The Tablet is said to run a Pixel QI which is fitting for full color multi-touch and rumored to be between $300 and $800. Stand still for the MSI and Quanta Tablet PC which is both powered by Android and Tegra 2 as well as the Vega 15.6 Tablet PC.

Nokia has announced a tablet until the end of this year and this is could be very interesting for Windows fans hence Nokia and Microsoft are partners now. Also everyone knows that Nokia is very appreciated in Europe, Germany and Nordic Countries mostly so Nokia Tablet will be a hit for sure.

Sony is cooking already Sony S1 and Sony S2, very expected this Summer and the Tablet PC rivalry does not end here. Remember that there is still an infinite line of Tablet PC waiting out there, like the BlackBerry Playbook, Samsung Sliding PC 7, T-mobile G-Slate, and the HTC Flyer. The rivalry is simply never ending and bet that Tablet savvy’s heart is also never stopping to beat for the right Tablet PC.
