Apple will release in the first qurter of 2012 iPad3 Apple will release in the first qurter of 2012 iPad3(0)

Apple is gearing up on its plan to release iPad 3 within a few months. Already Apple’s latest product iPhone 4S has gained widespread popularity and acceptance in the market and next product is highly anticipated. According to the inside resources iPad3 has entered the stage of production and around million builds of this amazing product would be ready for release within the next few months. The expected release date of iPad3 would be somewhere in February or March of 2012.

Several improvements are expected in iPad3. Among them, most important are the amazing feature of Retina Display which is already a part of iPhone 4S. Other than that, iPad3 would be running on A6 quad-core processor. Further additions include an improved camera and an enhanced battery life. So far, Apple holds the largest market share when it comes to tablet devices and iPad 2 is the most famous tablet device of all time. So the anticipation for iPad 3 is quite natural. Samsung, on the other hand, is also planning to use the A6 processor in the next tablet. Estimating from the present production phase, iPad 3 would most probably be released in the first quarter of the next year.

Office suites for iPad 3 Office suites for iPad 3(0)

The latest news about the upcoming model of iPad is that Microsoft would be launching its Office suite for iOS. This would be implemented for iPad 3 which would most probably be released during the first or second quarter of 2012. At present, Apple enjoys about 80 percent market share of the tablets and launching Office version for iOS at this point would certainly be a huge advantage for Microsoft. Apple’s collaboration with Microsoft would certainly result in increased popularity of the Apple tablets. Apple has already generated $15 billion dollar in revenues in only 2011 and with this latest move, the revenue income would further accelerate for sure.

Microsoft would most probably release a special version of Office for Mac OSX Lion too and the software would be available through App Store. Office is so far the most famous product that has ever been launched by Microsoft. This app that would be available through the App Store is expected to support Desktop office formats as well. The app would most probably be included in the productivity suit of iOS which is known as iWork. Like most other apps from iWork, we can expect the price of this app to be $10.

Motorola released updated tablet Xoom 2 for UK Motorola released updated tablet Xoom 2 for UK(0)

Motorola Xoom was the first tablet that introduced Android Honeycomb and although the OS was to become a massive hit, the tablet itself failed to impress the audience on large scale. The main cause of this failure was that the tablet had several software bugs and it took Motorola several months to fix these bugs. Now Motorola has released the updated model of the device with the name of Xoom 2 for UK market. The device is yet to show up for theUSmarket and an 8.2 inch model with the name of Xoom 2 Media Edition is also on its way.

The original Xoom was compared to iPad 2 but it failed to defeat the Apple tablet. This model, however, showcases some pretty impressive technical specifications and can be a worthy competitor of iPad 2. The weight of this Motorola tablet is a bit less compared to iPad 2. Talking about the display, Motorola Zoom is a bit better with 1280*720 resolution compared to iPad 2’s 1024*786 resolution. The pixel density of Xoom 2 is 145 pixels per inch which is, again, slightly higher than iPad 2’s 132 pixels per inch. Both tablets have dual-core processors but Xoom is ahead with 1.2 GHz compared to iPad’s 1 GHz. Talking about the RAM memory, Xoom once again emerges as a victor with 1 GB of RAM while the memory of iPad 2 is 512 MB. iPad 2 is available in three models: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. Xoom 2, on the other hand, is only available in 16 GB model for the time being. But good thing with Xoom is that it has SD card slot so the memory is expandable while this facility is not available with iPad 2. As far as the battery life is concerned, the advertised battery life during web usage of both devices happens to be 10 hours. However, Apple’s estimates are generally quite accurate while we can’t say this for sure about Motorola.

When we talk of camera, Apple has always been weak on this front. Xoom 2 has a 5 mega pixel rare end camera while iPad contains only 0.92 mega pixels. This is certainly a huge difference. So far we are not sure whether Xoom 2 would have Ice Cream Sandwich or Honeycomb but whatever it would be, Android is certainly there to deliver. In the final suggestion, however, we can’t say anything for sure about Xoom 2. Original Xoom also looked great in theory but people were disappointed once it was released. So we don’t know for sure whether this version would really impress the critics or not.

BlackBerry PlayBook sold out this Black Friday BlackBerry PlayBook sold out this Black Friday(0)

PlayBook from RIM seems to be highly popular among the customers since during this Black Friday, Best Buy completely sold out all the PlayBooks and it seemed that RIM would altogether stop all the orders for the device. However, according to the official statement, the orders have temporarily been suspended and soon the product would once again be available for sale. Anyone wanted to buy BlackBerry Playbook at $199 and the customers who had ordered the tablet were informed via the e-mail that online store was cancelling all the orders. But soon it was informed that this is only temporary since all the products have been sold, and the cancelled orders would soon be resumed. This seems advancement on the part of RIM since it is evident points at the popularity of the product.

During the recent months, RIM has been going through some serious trouble and revenue of the company had also declined ten percent during the second quarter of this year. Besides, the sale of the BlackBerry Playbook also halted at 200,000 when it expected to go up to 400,000. However, the price drop of the device from $499 to $300 seems to have helped considerably and the device seems to do well in the market full of competition. For the time being, customers are having some problems due to the unavailability of the device, but hopefully the orders would be resumed shortly.

Galaxy Tab 7.7 technical specs revealed Galaxy Tab 7.7 technical specs revealed(0)

Just like smartphones, Samsung is also among the top developers of tablet devices with high end features. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab can be considered the closest rival to Apple’s iPad2 at the moment. Other than releasing the main 10 inch version of the device, we also have a 7 inch version from Samsung, Galaxy Tab 7.7. Just with these two devices, Samsung has well established itself in the market of tablet devices.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has physical dimensions of 196.7x 133 x 7.89 mm and weighs 335g. Just like the 10 inch version, this device would also showcase a Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen which is certainly a delight to use. Android 3.2 Honeycomb for tablet devices would be the operating system on this device which would certainly provide a great browsing and surfing experience in conjunction with the TouchWiz user interface. Galaxy Tab 7.7 would be running on a 1.4 GHz dual core processor and would come with 1 GB of RAM memory. There would be two cameras onboard: a 3.2 mega pixels rare end camera with video recording facility, and a 2 mega pixels front end camera for video conferencing. The camera integrated in the 10 inch version happens to be 8 mega pixels so there is a room of improvement on this front. We can have this device in three main models: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.

There aren’t much competitors of Samsung when it comes to 7 inch tablets. Now Amazon has also released its much anticipated 7 inch tablet device which is receiving quite positive reviews and can be considered the direct rival of Galaxy Tab 7.7. But it would certainly take some time to decide who the winner is. One remarkable feature of Galaxy Tab 7.7 is that it has the highest pixel density in any tablet device so far, which is 196 ppi. Although using higher pixel density in smaller tablets makes perfect sense but still this device is far ahead of its competitors on this front. A powerful 5100 mAh battery is part of the device which can afford normal usage of up to 3 days. The software features of the device are also numerous and other than having common social networking features, users would have an access to Samsung Media Hub as well as Android app store.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is set to be released in the next few months. However, price for a Galaxy Tab 7.7 unlocked and exact release date of the device has not yet been revealed by Samsung.

Toshiba Thrive released Toshiba Thrive released(0)

Toshiba recently made an entry in the market of tablet devices with its Toshiba Thrive which has considerably increased the competition in an already heated up market of tablet PCs. Although Toshiba Thrive might not give a tough competition to Apple’s iPad2 or Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets, it nonetheless showcases some noteworthy features which are particularly attractive for the corporate users. The most important feature in this regard is, of course, the availability of computer ports for the enterprise users.
A problem that this device has been suffering from is the need to reboot the device after waking it from the sleep mode. This problem has been experienced by many users so far. Considering the technical specifications of Toshiba Thrive, it weighs 1.6 lb and is about .06 inch thicker as compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is not much of difference. Toshiba Thrive contains Nvidia Tegra 2.1 GHz dual-core processor and has a pretty decent LED backlit widescreen. 1280 by 800 resolution of the device are almost same as that of Galaxy Tab but the device lacks the sharpness of the screen which is provided by the Tab.
But the most noteworthy feature of the device, where it surpasses both Galaxy Tab as well as iPad2, is the availability of extra ports to facilitate connectivity with other devices. This would make sharing and device-to-device communication process much simpler and affordable. Among these ports are included a USB port to connect with PCs or other data devices, a mini USB provide to facilitate connection with phones, an HMDI port to connect the device with big screens. Additionally, the device also has an SD card slot for external memory. This considerable number of external ports, which are absent from both iPad2 and Galaxy Tab, has certainly made this device much more attractive for corporate users as well as those users who need a regular transfer of data from one device to the other. Not only this, a docking connector which facilitates the transfer of content from Toshiba Thrive to HDTV or LCD monitor is also available to connect the tablet to a Toshiba Multi-Dock which comes at a price of $59.99. What’s more, the device also contains an AC adapter. These features have give the device a clear edge over its competitors on this front and have incorporated certain user friendly features of a PC in this device.
Among applications, Toshiba Thrive comes with a FileManager used to share and manage important documents and files as well as videos and photos. Another noteworthy application is PrinterShare which facilitates the printing process via Android phones. Toshiba has also been offering Toshiba Start Place News aggregator, a Book Place digital bookstore and an application store. The application store, however, needs considerable improvement at present. Besides, essential applications such as social networking applications and applications for videos, music and games are also part of the device. Overall, the device can be improved on several fronts but from certain aspects, above all the availability of extra ports, it has an edge over its competitors.

Samsung betting big on Galaxy Tab 10.1 Samsung betting big on Galaxy Tab 10.1(0)

After much hype and wait, Samsung finally launched its most prominent recent product: the second-generation tablet PC named Galaxy Tab 10.1. The device was launched at the company headquarters in South Seoul. Officials of the company have declared their intentions of selling at least five times more tablets this year, even though the first Galaxy Tab was not as successful in the market as it was expected to be. The tablet which was sold last year was a 7 inch device was not a huge commercial success. Some 450,000 units of that device were sold domestically while some 2 million devices were sold worldwide. The LCD display of the device is also slightly bigger than iPad2’s 9.7 inch display and has better resolution. Furthermore, according to the experts, the device also has a better image quality. So it seems that Samsung has certainly put a lot of effort in this product.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 price has also been accounted which happens to be 671,000 won ($632) for a 16GB device while 748,000 won for a 32GB device. The device is, more or less, the same as compared to iPad2’s 640,000 for a 16 GB and 770,000 for a 32 GB model. Samsung is already considerably expanding its market of smartphones and according to the chief of the global electronics company’s mobile business unit, Shin Jong-kyun, Samsung aims to sell about 60 million smartphoens this year. But once again, on this front Samsung would face tough competition from the most noteworthy rival, Apple, who is intending to launch iPhone 5 during September. Another bone of contention between Apple and Samsung right now is the battle of patents, when Apple accused Samsung of copying its design of the Smart Cover for Galaxy Tab’s Smart Case. The product was recently launched and the controversy followed soon after the launch. Samsung, however, vehemently denied these allegations.
