Motorola Xoom to be released next week in UK(5) It’s confirmed - Motorola Xoom will be available to buy next week in UK. Motorola didn’t give a specific release date but it has to be before Asus Eee Pad Transformer’s launch if Motorola wants to present the first Android 3.0 running tablet as promoted in the photo below. Motorola has been accepting online pre-orders since last month and they committed to deliver starting with April 9th. They seem to have been taken quite by surprise by Asus guys. Interesting enough, the Xoom has similar technical specifications with Eee Pad Transformer. Both use same CPU (1GB dual core Tegra 2), same RAM memory (1GB), have 5 MP cameras on the back and same thickness (12.9mm). Asus Tablet is 50g lighter, weighting only 680g, but its facing camera has only 1.2 MP comparing with Xoom tablet which offers a 2 MP camera for video conferences. Eee Pad Transformer has also the docking keyboard that allows you to turn it into a netbook, giving users also up to 8 more hours of use. Motorola Xoom is also competing with Acer Iconia Tab W500, also announced for release at the beginning of April. Tough competition on the 10.1 inch tablet segment, even more when the prices are sensibly close. For example the Windows 7 runing Acer Iconia Tab W500 has the same price in UK as Motorola Xoom, (449.99 GPB) both being only 20GBP more expensive as Asus Eee Pad Transformer and 30 GBP cheaper than iPad 2. All of these models are having 32 GB storage and no 3G capabilities. We don’t have prices for Motorola Xoom in EURO but we will publish them before Motorola Xoom will hit the stores in Germany or France. |
