If anyone should almost necessarily have a tablet in possession, it is the web developers. With the ease of mobility and other facilities, a tablet seems to be just perfect for a web developer. Not surprisingly, these tablets are already quite famous among the web developers, whether they work for some company or simply indulge in freelancing. Strictly determining which tablets are perfect for the web developers would be difficult, but here are some suggestions about the ideal tablets for web developers.

When we talk of tablets, whether from the perspective of a common man or a web developer, iPad is at the top. With the release date of iPad 3 just around the corner, we can safely consider it to be at the top of the list of must have gadgets for web developers. Apple would most probably release this tablet somewhere in the mid of March so we don’t have many days to wait. With the amazing app store of Apple and cutting edge features of iPad such as Siri, Retina Display and A6 processor, a web developer can have everything he can ask for. For many tech giants, it is customary to release the mobile products in UK market before coming to the US market. So London is one of the centers of all the hustle and bustle one sees in this arena. London web developers are no exception when it comes to tablet trends and iPad is the most famous tablet among them as well. Other than iPad 3, web developers should also keep their fingers crossed for the upcoming version of BlackBerry PlayBook. Although RIM has been going through unstable situation for the last few months, PlayBook still offers a web developer everything that is needed. With an established platform, well stocked app store and easy to use interface, this is certainly a must have gadget for any web developer.

Then comes the tablet that happens to be the most popular Android based tablet at present, that is, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Android itself offers a wide range of possibilities for web developers and the combination of Android with Samsung tablet can be ideal from the perspective of web developers. Web developers, particularly the freelance developers, have increasing been preferring the Android tablets and Galaxy Tab is among the favorites. Finally, talking about the 7 inch tablets, Amazon Kindle Tablet can be perfectly suitable with respect to specs as well as price.

Samsung is gearing to release the second version of Samsung Galaxy Mini Samsung is gearing to release the second version of Samsung Galaxy Mini(0)

There is a lot of disappointment at Samsung’s decision not to release the next version of Samsung Galaxy S 3 during the Mobile World Congress. Users would have to be content with a few other products that Samsung would possibly release during the event. Other than the high end devices, Samsung however continues to release the mid end and low end devices at regular intervals. Among the low end devices, Samsung Galaxy Mini was probably the most popular device from Samsung that was highly appreciated by the users. Being a perfect device for people with low budget limits, this device was a mini replica of Galaxy phones, with limited technical specifications of course.

Now after the immense popularity of the first version, Samsung is gearing to release the second version of this mini phone, with enhanced technical specifications. Recently during FCC, an updated version of Samsung Galaxy Mini was spotted. The technical specifications of this device, however, remain to be unknown. There are a few specs there are quite clear though. For example, most importantly, Galaxy Mini 2 would come with 850 and 1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE radios which would make this device compatible with the networks of both AT&T and T-Mobile. With T-Mobile, however, the phone would be compatible only with the EDGE network. The radios on this device are also accompanied with Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and NFC functionality. We have also heard that this device would come with a faster processor and a bigger screen as well. Other technical specifications of Galaxy Mini 2, more or less, remain same compared to the previous version. For example, it would have the same 3 mega pixel camera and would be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Now this can be one of the devices that Samsung intends to release during the Mobile World Congress. There are already rumors that Samsung might release the next generation model of Samsung Galaxy Tab during MWC as well. These two devices, along with a few other releases, could make up for not releasing Galaxy S3, to some extent. However, the release of the phone for the US market, just like most other Samsung devices, might be delayed for a little more time. Anyways, the release of Galaxy Mini is certainly good news for people with constrained budget limits, rooting for some good low end Android phones.

Rumors : the resolution of iPad 3 would be twice that of iPad 2 Rumors : the resolution of iPad 3 would be twice that of iPad 2(0)

There is little doubt to the news that iPad 3 would be announced in the first ten days of March, most probably on 7th  of March. With this expectation, the ongoing process of rumors and speculations about iPad 3 has also considerably accelerated. A more recent piece of information has revealed that the resolution of iPad 3 would be twice that of iPad 2. The sources claiming this information have claimed to have obtained OEM LCD screen displays that are being used in the manufacture process of iPad 3. These displays were not powered on but were thoroughly and closely examined with the help of microscope and this examination revealed that the screen resolution of these displays is indeed about double the resolution of iPad 2. We find the clusters of 2×2 pixels on iPad 2 but there are clusters of 4×4 pixels on these displays which clearly mean double resolution. Overall, this means a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels compared to the resolution of 1024×768 on iPad 2.

Now this is not very surprising and unexpected news since already almost everyone was dead sure that Retina Display would be among the most important and integral features of the next model of Apple tablet. Retina Display is the highest possible resolution that has so far been achieved on any tablet or smart phone and was already showcased on iPhone 4S so it was quite reasonable that it now appeared on iPad 3. The distinguishing feature of Retina Display is that the individual pixels are not visible from normal viewing distance and hence the resolution is perfect. From the point of view of the developers, Retina Display means doubling the resolution of the graphics of the games and other apps that would be developed for these devices.

Other than Retina Display, there are also several other noteworthy features that we expect to be part of the next model of iPad. Most importantly, we expect that it would be equipped with a faster A6 processor and would also have support for LTE networks. There are Android tablets with LTE support in the market so Apple should really consider releasing tablet with this support now. And if iPad 3 comes with this support, it would also need to have a larger battery and hence longer battery life. Let’s just wait for a couple of weeks and see what Apple actually gives us on iPad 3.

Apple wants to block the sales of Samsung Galaxy Nexus in California Apple wants to block the sales of Samsung Galaxy Nexus in California(0)

Apple is taking measures to obtain an injunction from a California court in order to block the sales of Samsung Galaxy Nexus. According to Apple, this device infringes four Apple patents and hence is violating the terms and conditions of fair competition. This law suit was filed on Wednesday in US District Court in San Jose, California. According to the suit, Apple claimed that Samsung has been violating patents of Apple that are the main features of iPhone.

Apple has previously filed cases against Samsung in April which was mainly about the design oriented issues. Apple has filed these law suits against Samsung in various courtiers around the globe, including France, Germany and Australia. This time around, however, the main bone of contention happens to be the technical aspects. An example of one of the four technical aspects is slide-to-unlock feature that was introduced in iPhone and that is now also part of Galaxy Nexus. Another feature is the one in which the device collects the required information from different online sources when the customers ask about something. This feature was part of the voice-recognition software of Apple known as Siri. Apple has claimed that there is a remarkable similarity between that feature of Siri and a similar feature that is being used on Galaxy Nexus. Apple also accuses Samsung of infringing upon another patent that detects bits of information from a message. For example, while reading an entire message, users can simply tap on a number within the message and make a call right away. Finally, the last patent under consideration is the suggestion for correct words if a user types some incorrect word on the phone.

Samsung has officially released a statement according to which it would fully defend its position against Apple’s claims and would continue the innovation and growth. Apple, on the other hand, continues to insist that Samsung has been copying Apple products. When we look at the relative market share of Apple and Samsung, it clearly seems that the gap is narrowing down. During the fourth quarter of 2011, the market shares of Apple and Samsung were 23.5 percent and 22.8 percent respectively, where the difference is clearly very little. With the onslaught of new Android devices from Samsung, the share of Samsung might increase even further in future so Samsung is certainly a valid threat for the dominance of Apple.

Motorola has decided to give updates to its tablets, XYBOARD and XOOM Motorola has decided to give updates to its tablets, XYBOARD and XOOM(0)

After quite a pause, Motorola has decided to give updates to its tablets, Motorola XYBOARD and Motorola XOOM. Both 8.2 and 10.1 versions of XYBOARD tablet and the 4G LTE Xoom tablet would have the software updates which would result in extra features as well as the removal of minor bugs present in the previous versions. The software updates for both versions of the XYBOARD would be the same, with the only exception that the 10.1 inch version would have an additional feature of support for stylus touch response time. Important software updates for Motorola Xoom would include maintenance update for international travel and improved data connections. On the other hand, software updates for XYBOARD would include enhanced browsing experience and the ability to maintain the current data connection while switching between Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G networks. The Daily App would be among the default apps coming with the device. Certain improvements in the email and messaging services have also been made according to which links can be opened in the emails without the system rebooting.

An important update released for Motorola Xoom includes International Mobile Subscriber Identities for users who would be traveling between countries and another update to maintain and re-establish the data connection while leaving the airplane mode. However, the updates released for Motorola Xoom are less compared to those released for other tablets. Xoom was released about a year ago, in February 2011, and at that time it was certainly one of the very best Android tablets in the market. Some of the noteworthy technical specs of this tablet include dual-core processor, graphics processor and 1GB of RAM memory. On the other hand, both versions of DROID XYBOARD tablets were released later in 2011. These tablets also showcase some pretty impressive specs. The 10.1 inch version of these tablets comes with a weight of about two pounds and a powerful 7000mAh battery that can support standby time of about 1000 hours. The screen resolution for this tablet happens to be 1280×800 resolution while the pixel density is 149 ppi. Internal memory of this device is 64 GB, but there is no support for microSD card so memory cannot be expanded any further. This version of the tablet is available for orders on the official website of Motorola where you can buy this device at a price of $499.99.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Note and LG Optimus LTE would soon come to Canada Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Note and LG Optimus LTE would soon come to Canada(0)

This would probably be the most exciting news in months for the Canadian lovers of Android. According to the resources, three of the best Android devices, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, Samsung Galaxy Note and LG Optimus LTE would soon come to Canada and not only that, they would be equipped with the coveted LTE technology. This, however, is not the first LTE initiative in Canada and the technology was introduced last year by Rogers and Bell. However, the carrier bringing these devices to Canada, TELUS, would provide LTE in the areas where it was not supported previously. There are a lot of major areas in Canada where LTE support is not available as yet and TELUS intends to cover those areas as well. The company has laid down a well-planned scheme to make this possible over the next few years.

Samsung Galaxy Note would be available at a price of $199 along with a three year contract with the carrier. If, however, you want the device contract free, you would have to pay the extra cash. LG Optimus LTE, on the other hand, would be available at $99.99 with a three year contract. Without contract, you would be able to buy this phone at a price of $629.99.

TELUS has delayed the launch of the LTE services in Canada compared to other major carriers who took the initiative in the fall of 2011, but it would be providing services at places which other two carriers have not covered yet. Besides, the launch of these grand devices would certainly provide extra edge for TELUS. TELUS has announced its future plans regarding the LTE technology and the user base that it would cover. According to the plan, the LTE service of TELUS aims at covering about 25 million Canadian users with average speeds that would be between 12 and 25 Mbps while maximum speeds can reach up to 75 Mbps. This would certainly be a huge step in the mobile technology in Canada and millions of users would be able to benefit from it. Now the Canadian users would also be able to enjoy the latest and the best Android devices along with the LTE technology. Previously, the technology did exist but top Android devices were missing so the fun was not complete. Now however, Canadians would be able to enjoy the mobile experience like the rest of the world.

The battery life of iPad 3 would be significantly longer than that of iPad 2 The battery life of iPad 3 would be significantly longer than that of iPad 2(0)

From iPad 3 release date to the technical specifications and price of this remarkable piece of technology, everything is the part of rumors and wild guesses these days. But this is among the distinctive features of grand Apple products; they have a lot of hype and rumors surrounding them. There are a lot of photos of iPad 3 circulating over the internet. Some of them really seem to have some tint of reality while others seem to be just a flight of fancy. Recently, some new photographs of iPad 3 have emerged over the internet showing the internal structure of the famed device. Some internal hardware components of iPad 3 seem to be quite visible in this photograph. The most revealing aspect, however, was that the battery of the next version of iPad seems to be considerably larger than that of the previous version, which clearly indicates that the battery life of iPad 3 would be significantly longer than that of iPad 2. The internal structure of camera also seems to be different but it is quite difficult to infer the details about the camera just by seeing at the internal structure. There would also be some differences in the LCD of the device.

As the iPad 3 release date is getting closer, such rumors and revealed inside details are increasingly appearing over the internet. We can’t say anything for sure about the authenticity of these details or the reliability of the resources. The rumor about the bigger battery life, however, makes perfect sense since what we are hearing is that iPad 3 would be equipped with the famed Retina Display and if it is true, it is certainly going to require a much powerful battery. Apple likes to keep things highly secret and we can know for sure about the hardware components and software specifications only after the device is actually released or officially announced by Apple. This is expected to happen some time in March, although no official release date of iPad 3 has been announced by Apple as yet. Previously, there were rumors that Apple might choose 24th of February to announce iPad 3 since that is the birthday of Steve Jobs but due to the problems in the manufacturing of the devices, this does not seem to be a very viable idea now. The release date of iPad 3 seems to be somewhere in the last weak of March. Lots of people are waiting the moment to buy iPad 3 and take benefit of its features. March it’s just around the corner.

Microsoft has been working on Windows Phone 8 under the name of Apollo Microsoft has been working on Windows Phone 8 under the name of Apollo(0)

According to the rumors and leaks associated with Windows 8, it appears that Microsoft is working on an operating system that would work equally efficiently on PCs, smart phones, tablets and other entertainment devices. If this actually happens, it would certainly be a huge achievement but there are also certain risks that are associated with such a move. Microsoft has been working on Windows Phone 8 under the name of Apollo and the noteworthy aspect is that various critical features of this OS such as kernel and networking stack and other security features are hired from Windows 8, instead of Windows Phone 7. This clearly shows that the rumors of releasing a unified operating system do carry weight.

So far, Microsoft has not released any kind of refutation of these rumors and if they actually turn out to be true, there are various features that this new operating system would showcase which were missing from the previous versions. The new OS would have support for C/C++ programming, multi-core processors, multi-resolution and external devices such as microSD cards. According to resources, during the code writing process of Windows Phone 8, developers would be able to reuse the code of Windows 8.So if we are about to have a unified OS from Microsoft, this would certainly mean a clear edge over the competitors such as Google and Apple. An attraction for developers would be that the applications developed for this platform would present no or little porting problems when it comes to porting these apps between different devices. There are just 60,000 apps for Windows Phone devices compared to some 500,000 apps for Apple devices and 300,000 apps for Android devices. But if a unified OS is achieved, the app development process for Windows Phone devices would considerably accelerate.

But of course, Microsoft would have to be extremely careful throughout the development and launch process of any such OS. Microsoft is already not in a very good position in the market of mobile devices and if such a move fails, it could prove to be disastrous. There have been certain hardware problems as well. Microsoft has announced that ARM-based Windows 8 tablets would not be able to run the legacy Windows Apps. Besides, Intel has also announced that Windows 8 devices having processors other than those of Intel would not be able to provide a perfect computing experience. However, we can’t say anything for sure just at this moment and would have to wait and see how Microsoft tackles with all these risks.

New rumors about the release date of iPad 3 New rumors about the release date of iPad 3(0)

Everyone is giving his own opinion about the specs and release date of iPad 3 but if there shouldn’t be any two opinions on a fact, it is that iPad 3 is the hottest news in the industry at present. Now according to the latest resources, Apple would hold a media event in the last week of March during which the famed iPad 3 would released. The release date of iPad 3 has been set to be March 29, according to these resources.

These resources have further revealed that the component maker companies of iPad 3 have been supplying various components since the end of 2011 and the device itself is now almost ready to be unveiled. Other than rumors about iPad 3, there are also rumors about the next model of iPhone. According to these rumors, Apple might be considering releasing iPhone 5 during the summer of 2012, which would be much ahead of the schedule. The industry of chip making and purchasing is also in full swing these days and according to a reputed business newspapers, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), which happens to be largest manufacturer of contract chips, has received a large order of 28 nm APUs Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the US based supplier of microprocessors. The above mentioned Taiwan based company has been engaged in chip manufacturing orders with some of the leading chip suppliers such as Altera, Xilinx, Qualcomm and Nvidia.

Last year, Apple had held an event on March 2 during which iPad 2 was announced and about 10 days after that event, iPad 2 was actually released. According to most critics and experts, Apple would follow the same convention this year as well. Previously, it was expected that iPad 3 would be released during the first week of March but the holidays of Chinese New Year resulted in considerable prolongation of the development process of the devices which consequently also delayed the release date. Important technical specs of iPad 3 that almost everyone is expecting include a more attractive design, faster A6 processor, and the coveted Retina Display. As expected, Apple has not made any comments about the rumors regarding the release dates of iPad 3 and has been following the strategy of strictly keeping the information regarding the release date confidential. According to reliable resources, there would be considerable growth in the revenues of Apple with iPad 3 compared to the revenues that were generated with the previous versions.

Apple might gradually reduce the production of MacBook Air Apple might gradually reduce the production of MacBook Air(0)

With the constantly increasing fame of the Apple tablet, there are chances that Apple might gradually reduce the production of its MacBook Air. Recently there were a few rumors about the release of an ARM-based MacBook Air in near future but the craze that was once associated with these products was not seen. On the other hand, the craze and eagerness for the upcoming model of iPad is constantly increasing. There has been a lot of speculation about the probable release date and the technical specs of iPad 3. In a recent meeting of Apple’s top brass, it was noted that the popularity of iPad is clearly increasing compared to the popularity of MacBook Air. This means that the possibility of releasing an ARM-based MacBook Air would also require a revision. During the same meeting, issues like the possibilities of growth in Chine, improvement in iCloud and the future of Apple TV were also brought into consideration.

There has been a lot of speculation about various features related to iPad 3 and even though the device might be released in less than a month, no one knows for sure the release date of it. Wild guesses can be seen over the internet and there is also a lot of hype surrounding the technical specs and features of the upcoming model of iPad. Most talked about technical features of the new model are Siri integration, facilities for the 4G LTE network and faster processor. Besides, there are also rumors that Apple might choose to release an iPad 2S or iPad 2 HD instead of iPad 3. Although no one knows for sure the technical specifications that we would be able to see in the next generation version of iPad, Apple sure would incorporate some pretty exciting features in this model since iPad 3 has become the main source of attraction among all the Apple products. Apple has also been considering limiting the production of MacBook Air since in the presence of highly popular iPad, there would be little or no need for conventional PCs. Besides, all the functions that people used to have from with MacBook Air are not being performed by iPad so Apple intends to instead invest more in the future of iPad. The next model of iPad would mostly probably be released during the first few days of March.
