The latest interesting development regarding the rumored iPad mini is that its mock-up pictures have been revealed over a French tech blog which previously also leaked the pictures of the new iPhone. These photos show the front white part of iPad mini, held in various positions. There is another photo showing cases of the larger and smaller versions of iPad, along with the cases for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
So far it is not clear whether these mock-ups photos actually belong to the speculation mini iPad. Apple has also not commented on the situation and there is no official statement on the matter. Last few days were very important for Apple, considering the launch of the new iPhone 5. As always, the latest version of the smart phone from Apple is expected to be a huge hit among the customers. However, Apple might be back in a few days with the announcement of the mini version of its tablet.
So far Apple has refrained from entering in the domain of 7 inch tablets. However, during the recent months, the expectations about such a move from Apple have been very high. Apple is already the leader of the tablet market and with the launch of a smaller version of iPad, with lower price, it would certainly have a clear lead over its competitors. The two main rivals of Apple in the domain of 7 inch tablets would be Amazon with its Kindle Fire and Google with its Nexus 7. Both Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire have been doing very well in the market and have a wide user base. Amazon recently launched the second generation version of its Kindle Fire which would also be available in 8.9 inch form factor. This size is not very far away from 9.7 inches of the iPad, which has brought Amazon a bit closer in competition with Apple. While the legal battle between Apple and Samsung seems to be ongoing without any apparent end, it has revealed some pretty interesting things about both companies. Talking specifically about Apple, the court documents revealed a variety of concepts of iPhone and iPad that were considered but were eventually scrapped. Two of the most interesting features of these leaked designs of iPad are 16:9 screen and a kickstand in the back that is featured in several design iterations.

The kickstands featuring in these pics were not similar and varied from each other to some extent. Some kickstands protruded from the back on a swivel joint while there were other kinds that could fold flush with the casing.

Another interesting fact revealed from the legal documents was that one of the iPad prototypes was named iPod. This shows that Apple was considering branding the tablet with this name before finally deciding on iPad.

There were also some interesting things about iPhone. Before the final launch of the device, several other design considerations were also made. One of the designs included an elongated device with the screen occupying only the upper half of the device, with the lower half composed of a blank panel. Besides, there were still other design considerations for the iPhone, such as an angular eight-sided design that would fit in on the set of “Battlestar Galactica.”

Identification numbers have been assigned to some of these prototypes but unfortunately, there are no dates on them which means that proper timeline cannot be assigned to them. But still, even if a proper timeline is missing, these prototypes certainly provide an insight into the creation process of Apple. The designs in the documents are certainly innovative and tell the story of how Apple finally arrived at the present name of iPad and the design of iPhone.

News are leaking out that HTC, a smartphone manufacturer, will release its newest version of Honeycomb Tablet named as the “HTC PUCCINI TABLET” as soon as this coming summer. AU Optronics is providing HTC with the 10.1” touch panels along with Wintek supplier which is also the supplier of the 7’ panels for the Flyer with Cando. Massive production of the Tablet will be coming out in June onwards so shipping will begin later on it was predicted.
