New look for Google News on tablets New look for Google News on tablets(0)

Google has announced that it would be revamping its Google News service for a variety of devices, including its own Nexus tablets. According to the tech giants, the user interface of the service would be changed for Nexus 7, Nexus 10, iPad and other major tablets. The new interface would make the service more natural and streamlined on the tablets.

The announcement was made by Google News product manager Mayuresh Saoji who said that the new design would add “more breathing room between articles, making it easier to spot the stories you really care about.” Google News is one of the most popular services from the company and according to the official estimates of Google, it drives more than 6 million page views per month to the news sites that it links.

Other than the user interface, several new features would also be added to the service. For instance, with the new service, users would be able to use gestures to find new articles, sources and specific topics of interest. Swiping gestures would be enhanced, with the new horizontal swiping gesture allowing users to switch between the sections.

Various features that are already existent on the web service would also be added to the tablet version of the service. For instance, with the “Explore in Depth” features, users would be able to find related information to the particular information that they have been searching. This feature could be used with a single tap on the screen of the tablet.

These recent changes follow the changes that were already made by Google at the start of the year. The changes made at the start of the year included the new navigation menu at the top of the Google News page. This design feature has also been incorporated in several other Google services. The most prominent change, however, remains to be the new user interface which is more intuitive and streamlined.

The updated Google News services would only be available for the US users for the time being. However, with the passage of time, the services would be rolled out for the users in the rest of the world. Changes in the existent services can be viewed at the official website of Google News.

Facebook has released an updated version of its app for iPhone and iPad Facebook has released an updated version of its app for iPhone and iPad(0)

Good news for the users of the Facebook app for iPhone and iPad is that Facebook has released an updated version of its app which would be much more faster compared to the previous version. Although the general user interface of the updated app is pretty similar to the older app, the major difference is that the programming code of the new app has been replaced with the new code used for iOS.

There are various notable changes that can be observed in the new app. For example, the code for the camera and messenger apps of Facebook has been integrated in the main app, replacing the older tools. This has increased the facility in messaging and managing photos in the new app. The news feed has also been improved and the new feed would be more dynamic. This means that with every “like” or comments on a status update, it could be observed directly without any need of refreshing the page.

The most important aspect of the recent major re-structuring in Facebook is that every product team is now working on mobile platforms. According to Facebook executives, special attention is being paid to major platforms such as iOS and Android. Instant operation of the apps is necessary when it comes to mobile platforms and this is precisely what the new Facebook app does.

An important question that was raised regarding the departure of Facebook from the native code is that would it still remain an open Web platform. According to the head of mobile engineering at Facebook, Cory Ondrejka, it would remain so. He said that wrapping the native around the web technology was not viable for Facebook apps, since the performance of these apps in past was not up to the mark. He further said that Facebook would continue to take advantage of the web technology in future as well.

An important advantage of the web based development is that the entire development team can work with the same code on all products, hence considerably increasing the productivity. This would also eliminate the need of writing a new code in a different language for each platform. Talking about the comparative advantage of the latest development techniques, Mr. Ondrejka said that “We would love the Web to be as capable as native to simplify development. But it’s just not there today.”

Puzzle Craft on Apple App Store Puzzle Craft on Apple App Store(0)

Puzzle and RPG games are usually very interesting since you actually do every task bit by bit and in a long run, can build up an entire empire. Puzzle Craft is one of the most interesting such games which, using a fairly basic yet amusing puzzle system, provides an interesting and rewarding system of progression.

The way to play this game is that users start with only a single farm field, and eventually houses, mines and windmills are built using the resources of that farm field. Eventually, you are able to make an entire metropolis with gradual expansion. Collecting the resources from the land is hence the most important job that you have to perform in this game, since you can build buildings, tools and hire workers. The graphics of the game are colorful and clear, and it is a delight to play the game on a high resolution device such as iPad. Specific icons are reserved to indicate different resources.

Puzzle Craft is based on the system of Dungeon Raid in which it is required to draw a line through the needed items. The difference between the two games is that Puzzle Craft lets the users combine objects when enough of them are collected. There are various interesting bits in the game as well. For example, users can combine 10 grain into a carrot and then combine carrots into a soup. Users can hire workers to suit the combination rules and tools can be used in certain situations in order to clear the screen or collecting other required resources.

Puzzle Craft can safely be regarded as one of the most popular and exciting games of this year on Apple App Store. Good thing is that it is available at a nominal price of 99 cent, and every fan of puzzle games should certainly get his or her hands on this game. At times the game can be quite complex, particularly when it comes to the right implementation of the strategy, but that is exactly what makes this game so exciting. Thanks to the variety of strategy options and a very engaging progression system, Puzzle Craft can be considered one of the very best games of its type. Spending a few hours playing this game would certainly be a worthwhile experience.

The updated features in iOS 6 would not be applicable on iPad 2 The updated features in iOS 6 would not be applicable on iPad 2(0)

Bad news for the owners of iPad 2 and 3rd generation iPod touch: the updated features available in iOS 6, including Siri, would not be applicable on those devices. Apple has a sort of convention of supporting only the latest devices and this is exactly what has happened with the latest updated version of iOS.

The updated version of iOS was recently launched by Apple during the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) of Apple in San Francisco. In this latest version of the operating system, some 200 new features have been added, including Siri for the new iPad as well as various other social networking features. The updated features would also be applicable on devices such as iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, fourth generation iPod as well as both version of Apple TV.

Other than Siri and various other social networking features, Apple has also launched its own version of Google Maps in this software update. This was precisely the reason why Apple dropped support for Google Maps in its App Store recently. In the Apple version of these maps, there would also be support for 3D version which could be activated form the device with a single button. Similar 3D support has also been demonstrated by Google recently and would be incorporated in Google Maps.

The updated software has enhanced social network integration with websites such as Facebook and Twitter. According to the updated features for Facebook, users would now be able to post on Facebook from within the apps. Besides, they would now also be able to pull images from photo albums and identify locations from maps, all within the apps. Besides, birthdays and events on Facebook would be automatically synchronized with users’ calendars.

There are also certain improvements made in the Apple browser, Safari. The browser now supports live synchronization of tabs with Mountain Lion which would allow the synchronization of the browsing experience across all Apple devices of a user using iCloud. This means that if there is a tab opened on your iPad, you can leave it just that way and check it instead on your iPhone.

So there are significant improvements in iOS 6 but unfortunately, these improvements would only be seen on the latest Apple devices.

The updated version of iOS might include iMaps and Siri for iPad The updated version of iOS might include iMaps and Siri for iPad(0)

Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just around the corner and Apple has a tradition of introducing new devices during this event. Previous introductions during the event include iPhone and iPad. However, although there would not be any new device introduced this year during the event we certainly do expect the release of an updated version of iOS for Apple devices, iOS 6. Other than that, we can expect some updated Mac computers. iOS 6 would also be running on iPhone 5 which would be released later this year, so there have to be some important updates in this version of the operating system.

One of the most important things that are expected to be included in the updated version of iOS happens to be iMaps, a possible alternative to Google maps. Last week Apple removed Google app off its operating system which gives rise to speculations about an alternate Apple version of maps. Whether the app would be called iMaps or anything else is not confirmed, but there is an increasing anticipation about the release of such an app. The expectations are quite valid since Apple also purchased 3D-mapping company C3 technologies last year.

The new operating system is also expected to have closer integration with Facebook, just like the previous version had with Twitter. With this integration, users would be able to have system-wide Facebook log-in for apps. This integration would also be important for Facebook after a recent failure in IPO. Besides, Facebook is one of the main sources of traffic for Apple App Store. According to the official announcement by Facebook, users of the website went from the website to Apple App Store 83 million times. Related to Facebook, there would also be a feature of “App Liking” according to which users would be able to “like” apps from within the iPhone app store.

There just might be Siri for iPad in the new software update. However, so far this is a pure speculation and there aren’t any hints from Apple in this regard. However, it would be quite natural to expect such as update for iPad after using Siri on iPhone 4S. Finally, developers have also been expecting Macs with better displays to be announced during the event.

Due to technology you can surveillance your house with the help of tablets Due to technology you can surveillance your house with the help of tablets(0)

The market of tablets has grown very impressively over the last two years since the inception of the first generation iPad. With the passage of time the importance of tablets in everyday life is constantly increasing, even though they were initially criticized for their limitations. These days, you can use them to watch video content, stream music, interact with other on social networking forums and perform a variety of other tasks. This has given rise to the idea of ‘smart homes’ where the technical products would be completely integrated with each other. For example, you can use your iPad to control the Apple TV and with the passage of time, the penetration of tablet technology into over lives would certainly increase.

With the increasing influence of technology on our lives and the cloud technology, tablet can be used as the control center of the entire technically equipped house. For example, the security systems, television, lights and fans, alarms and even curtains could be controlled with the tablet in your hand sitting on the sofa. With the passage of time, it is possible that you would be able to perform all these tasks while being away from your home. Already we have manufacturers who have been developing apps for home automation system. Control4 is one such company that also has a iPad app and also owns a platform for which developers can create their apps. The company creates its own hardware for home automation and security systems. Besides, with this system you can also control the lights, temperature and operate electronics. A special iPad like product with the name of Comcast’s Xfinity Home Security product has been created by the company that can be used for these purposes. This device has its own iOS app and also comes with cellular data backup connection that can be used in case the broadband connection gets disconnected for some reason. Such systems are also being increasingly used for web-connected home security system, which are a cheaper and reliable alternative to rather expensive home surveillance systems. The Web Cam Technology used in these devices relies on the cloud based technology to maintain the footages recorded for security purposes. The footages recorded from these devices can be viewed from any tablet as long as you have the proper app installed.

So basically the increasing influence of tablets would enhance our everyday comfort with the help of smart phones where everything would be connected and automated and would certainly see the realization of all this in near future.

New app from Apple available for iPhone and iPad New app from Apple available for iPhone and iPad(0)

Apple introduced some fine software enhancements, including various shortcuts, in the latest version of iOS. But unfortunately, some of these were not available for the people who were using jailbroken devices. Probably the most important of these features was the lock screen short cut for the native camera app introduced in iOS 5.1. According to this app, you can take snaps with your camera by tapping on the camera icon even though the screen of the device is locked. This can be done on iPhone as well as iPad. But finally a jailbreak tweak has been introduced by which the jailbreakers would also be able to enjoy this useful feature. For all the jailbroken devices that are running iOS 5.0.1, an app with the name of ‘Camera Grabber for iOS 5’ has been made available which would make the use of the above feature possible. What’s even more exciting, this app is available for free and you can download it and enjoy the resulting benefits right away, since you don’t need to change anything in the camera configuration after the installation of this app.

The developers of this app have also taken the fact into consideration that the devices that don’t have any pass code would provide complete access to the camera roll once the camera icon is tapped from the locked screen. This has made the use of the feature simpler and you just need to pull up from the icon to use the camera app. You can also view the recently taken photos in the similar way. You might feel a slight difference in the appearance of the new short cut and the one that exists on the devices that are not jailbroken, but there isn’t much of a difference. Although previously, utilities and apps that facilitate this kind of features on the Apple devices have been made available, Camera Graber seems to be the best one among them all. Other than having close resemblance with the standard look, Camera Grabber is also the easiest to use since you don’t need to play around with the configuration.
